Happy Veterans Day! I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has served and is currently serving in our armed forces and take a moment to remember those who have lost their lives defending our country. Thank you all for your sacrifice.
And now for some bookish news!
News for Nerdfighters
There has also been some discussion lately about the cover for TFiOS, with the Yeti (Sarah Urist Green, curator of contemporary art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art and John’s wife) making a very convincing argument as to why the cover is awesome. YouTuber, Nerdfighter, and graphic designer Karen Kavett also shared her thoughts on the matter. If you’re one of the people who wasn’t thrilled with the cover design, it might be interesting and thought-provoking to read their opinions.
In other exciting Nerdfighter news, John and Hank are going to be making a series of educational videos in addition to their regular vlogbrothers videos. Click here to read more about it, or watch the video below for John’s explanation.
It’s that time of year again, folks. It’s time for all the brave, daring writers out there to participate in the National Novel Writing Month challenge – to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November.
I tried to participate a couple of years ago, and I got stalled around 8,000 words. So I know how hard it is, and I applaud everyone who is participating this year. You can do it!
If you’d like more news and encouragement for NaNoWriMo, check out Maureen Johnson’s blog and Lynn Viehl at Paperback Writer. Johnson is answering questions about NaNo in a series of posts called Ask Auntie MJ, delivering responses that are both helpful and hilarious, and Viehl has posted some awesome strategies, writing tips, and resources for participants.
All I can say to everyone doing NaNo is good luck!!!
Ilona Andrews publishing news
Some sad news for fans of Ilona Andrews: the deadlines for Andrea’s spin-off book, Edge 4, and the sixth Kate Daniels novel have been pushed back due to a family emergency. You can read more on Andrews’ blog and leave a comment to show support for the family during this difficult time. As sad as I am about having to wait longer for my next Kate Daniels fix, I’m even sadder for what this family is going through, and I’m glad that adjusting their publishing schedule has made things easier on them.
That’s it for now. Have a fun and safe holiday weekend, everyone!
